THRIFTY THURSDAY

MORNING EVERYONE
I am loving the birds this morning.. they are splashing in the birdbath having a good old time.. I figure the people with the cat up the street must be on holidays cause my birds are back... Not that I do not love cats it is just that I love my garden and birds better....Another day of lots of work and no play but that is okay cause tomorrow Grumpy and I are off to play for the whole weekend..So all this work is well worth it.. This recipe today I also love doing on the barbacue as well... you just have to use a cookie sheet or doubled tin foil make do pan so that the fat does not make a flare up ..If you cook this at your camp site you are sure to have everyone over for a visit , cause everyone loves the smell of bacon..

Sweet and
Spicy Bacon
Chicken
4 chicken breasts cut in thirds (12 pieces)
Bacon slices
salt and pepper to taste
garlic powder
chili powder
brown sugar
Cut each breast into 3 pieces, season all the chicken with the spices,
Then wrap a bacon slice around each piece, roll in brown sugar and place into an oven proof dish....make sure you have some olive oil in the dish too, like 2 or 3 tablespoons is fine
Bake at 400 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes or until chicken is cooked through and bacon is nice and brown and crispy.
I serve mine with mashed potatoes and spoon some of the gravy from the chicken on top. Not that that is good for you but it is so delicious... if you are going to do on the barbacue how about some corn on the cob and baked potato...

THRIFTY THURSDAY
Shop carefully
A shopping list is a crucial and underrated part of any eating plan. I’m not saying that every snack should be planned to the last crumb, but thinking about what you need and having a scout around the cupboards before you leave for the shops is not a bad idea. It’s better than waiting until you are ravenous and then coming home with an assortment of munchies that you don’t really need. Important tips are: check cupboards first; make a list; don’t shop when you’re hungry; shop alone (so no one can weaken your frugal resolve). We all know when we take our husbands or kids we spend more ..
Everyone have a great day and talk to you soon
Enjoy
Cheers
Granny
